$49 bucks for an iPhone 3GS
In case you missed it, AT&T cut the price of the iPhone 3GS to $49.
That’s a great deal on a great smartphone. I wonder which carrier will have a competing Android phone in this space?
This in preparation of an impending Verizon iPhone announcement?
Brain Freeze! Android Ice-Cream?
Power blog Engadget is reporting that Android 2.4 might be coming out this summer. This would be a follow-up to Gingerbread.
According to engadget.com:
Apparently the President of ARM, Tudor Brown, spilled the vanilla beans to Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes, saying that Android 4.0 will be called "Ice Cream," and while it seems like a bit of an obvious choice for an "I" dessert, that’s never stopped Google’s crack naming crew before.
Engadget breaks some great stories. Next to Life Hacker, it’s one of my more favorite blogs. I highly recommend it.
From Walmart HDTV to tap dancer…
I’d never heard of Vizio until they started selling a bunch of HDTVs at Walmart. A few years ago the Vizio’s began to fill the back wall at my local Walmart. Their cheap prices causing me to contemplate begging my wife for a man cave.
However, Vizio recently announced that they’re getting into the Smartphone and Tablet business. I can see rows of those at Walmart, each with the built in ability to be a universal remote!
The announced phone and tablet will have pretty good features that I would consider now standard like a 1Ghz processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroSD slot.
They’ll also have HDMI out, HD video playback, and an IR blaster paired with their universal remote app. Business everywhere need to block the IR ports on their TVs because once this gets into the wild, you’re going to see mayhem in sports bars and trade shows every where.
Don’t know which version of Android these guys will be running. But I bet its Froyo.
